The British Schools Exploring Society is an inspirational youth development charity which has been running expeditions for young people aged 16-23 to polar, jungle, mountain and desert environments since 1932. Our expeditions are a unique blend of extreme outdoor adventure and valuable environmental scientific research.

In order to extend our reach across the country, BSES has developed a network of Regional Marketing Teams (RMTs). As we enter the second year of this programme, we are looking to create a further three teams.

RMTs are led by a Regional Marketing Co-ordinator (RMC) and supported by local former Young Explorers (YEs). The RMC reports to the Marketing Manager (MM) of BSES. The primary aim of the RMC role is to develop relationships and long-term links with schools and other youth organisations to ensure a regular and ongoing stream of high-calibre applicants for BSES’ expeditions. This will be done by providing promotional talks and presentations to potential participants, head-teachers and other teaching staff, parents and youth group or activity leaders.

It is anticipated that this position will suit freelancers or those working part-time, particularly who are expeditioners or have a background in education or youth development.

Requirements

A successful holder of this position is likely to be / have:

* Strong local networking skills within the parent, teaching and youth development activity community

* A passion for (and personal experience of) the outdoors / wilderness

* A passion for and understanding of youth development issues beyond the curriculum
